CATHOLIC BISHOP LAUNCHED A PRAYER CAMPAIGN FOR PEACE AND INSURGENCIES IN SOUTH SUDAN

imagesA catholic Bishop raised a roaring voice encouraging South  Sudanese and the rest of the world to pray for peace and on going rebellions within the country. The irritated Bishop was heard saying in a Sunday mass service. Its quite absurd that majority of South  Sudanese are confined in UN camps and safe houses. They can’t move and they can’t do anything for their own.

He described the current situation in south Sudan that even Cows and other animals are better than people in our country. How can animals move from east to west, north to south yet our people are starving in UN safe houses, UN camps and worst of all everyday the number keeps increasing. We can’t move, no development! What will happen to our future generation?

The bishop encouraged the believers to keep praying for peace within the country. And with God things are possible.

FLASH BACK

When the war broke out in 2013, many people were internally and externally displaced. United Nations mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) did set up many (POC camps, protection of civilians) purposely to protect affected communities.

The POC and UN safe houses worked very well since the number of people who accessed these places were not many. But today the number has increased and keeps increasing everyday because of unending conflicts.

However, these camps have also becomes a challenge to people. It has been confirmed safe houses and camps have only been secured places in war-affected areas. Moving out of camps has been restricted because of unanimous death that used to happen to children and women. UN has done a lot and there are things it can’t supply to people like firewood and charcoal. Despite other challenging situations within the camp as people narrates.

According to our news sources in Malakal , before opposition forces took over the control of Malakal town, people in camps were cooking food using sandals and clothes. The situation was getting worse everyday. Thank God things are back to normal in all camps now.
